FLAVA Krew was formed in 2016 by its Executive Director, Melanie Smith. Melanie wanted to provide an opportunity for those students with a love for Hip Hop and wanted more opportunities than the annual recital to perform.
FLAVA Krew strives to instill strong work ethics, commitment, responsibility and a love and appreciation of the arts and different genres of the Hip Hop form
Dancers do not audition to a part of FLAVA KREW. However, they do audition to earn a place in the specific dances that they compete and perform. Dancers must have at least one year training in hip hop in order to join FLAVA Krew. Dancers must also be registered in tap and hip hop at Dancin’ Jazzi Dance Studio. Rehearsals are held every 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 5th Saturdays.
Being a part of FLAVA Krew is a year-long commitment. In the unlikely event that a dancer quits in the middle of the season, they must continue training in ballet, tap and jazz at Dancin’ Jazzi Dance Studio and must wait one full year before re- joining The Company.
So why join FLAVA Krew??? Because FLAVA Dance Company is an extraordinary organization. Not only do we compete, we give back to our community. We are in the community not only to share our gift of dance but to serve, love and do whatever it takes to help make the world a better place. Our dancers have opportunities to do community service as well as opportunities to pay it forward.
